How do you become a spy?

How do you become a spy?

You don't learn how to become a spy from an ordinary game of cards. Spies have to learn all kinds of activities. Including performing difficult missions. They learn this by playing board games specially made for them. In this way, a spy learns to think tactically and to work well together. But you won't get there alone. You have to be able to keep secrets and you even have to lie for work. Nobody should know that you work as a spy. That's why you pretend you have a completely different job.

"Maybe your friends think you're doing something boring all day at the office when you're actually bugging people for work!"

In the Netherlands, most spies work for the AIVD, which stands for General Intelligence and Security Service. This must ensure that the Netherlands is safe. The people who work at the AIVD don't look as spectacular as in movies. As a spy, you should of course not stand out, and you do that by looking just like other people. Nor are they always spying on people on the street. And they don't have any crazy gadgets. A lot of research is done from behind a computer. From there you can eavesdrop on people, spy on them, and look into their computers or phones.

"So do you like working with computers, do
you find it easy to lie, and are you good at keeping a secret? Then spy might be the job for you!''
